We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and high calibre marketing leader to take the role of Director of Marketing Effectiveness and Capability. Marketing is twice as important for RX as for many other companies.   As a tradeshow business we need to market both to our paying exhibitors (sellers) and to our attendees (buyers).

The core purpose of the role is to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of marketing in all our global business units and to ensure our capabilities evolve as customer expectations and technologies change. 

You will collaborate with, supportively challenge, and provide specialist services and guidance to operational marketing leaders across our global business units.  

Success is measured at the end of the marketing funnel with more of the right people at our events, recruited ever more efficiently.

This new role will lead and develop the successful and established Global Marketing Solutions team (3 FTEs) into a high performing marketing effectiveness function. 

Key Responsibilities:

Develop an effective and ambitious plan for improving marketing capability.    

Base this on a deep understanding of what is required to be effective now, and in the future and capture it in an RX marketing strategy (developed with operational marketing).

Be the acknowledged RX expert and thought leader on marketing effectiveness. Maintain the high profile of marketing across the organisation and with senior leaders.

Build marketing capability and increase marketing effectiveness across 5 areas:

Best Practices:

  • Collect, validate and enable consistent adoption of best practices

  • Run structured trials to develop and validate with data new and innovative best practices

  • Seek new techniques and best practices from RELX, direct competitors and other industries

Marketing Solutions (technology):

  • Based on the RX marketing strategy, define the future marketing solutions needed for continued success in all RX business areas

  • Develop and track business cases for spend on marketing solutions

  • Work with stakeholders (operational marketing and sales, data privacy and security, and technology) to implement improvements to marketing solutions

  • Lead the relationship with existing and potential marketing technology vendors

Data, Analytics and Reporting:

  • Develop the common metrics, KPIs and suite of reports and analytics that allow effectiveness and efficiency to be measured and improved. (Including, but not limited to, data quality and value, attribution, account-based marketing, conversion funnels, organisation efficiency)

  • Lead activities for the continuous improvement and effective use of customer data for marketing

  • Identify, prioritise and address marketing related questions, problems and opportunities to be answered through analytics

Shared Services

  • Increase the range and level of usage of marketing shared services teams, especially in RX Philippines

  • Use the shared services team to increase the adoption of consistent good practices across RX

Marketing Organisation and Talent

  • Define an optimal and common approach to marketing operating model and talent (E.g. role definitions, skills & competencies, training, reward and alignment with sales.)

  • Work with stakeholders to enabled adoption across RX

To be successful you will need to establish a strong peer to peer relationship with Marketing Leaders across RX. Listening to them and understanding their needs, respectfully challenging their ways of working and then delivering world class marketing solutions, best practices, analytics and other specialist services.

Ideal candidate profile:

A clear passion for the craft of modern multi-channel marketing and its continual improvement.  Making it ever more effective and accountable Experienced marketing professional with personal experience of leading marketing capability building, analytics, solution deployment and change in marketing processes Experience likely to have been gained in a specialist marketing effectiveness role in a multi-national business or in relevant consulting High and current knowledge of marketing technologies, channels and good practices The executive presence and operational credibility to influence and quickly build effective peer to peer relationships with RX Marketing Directors and other senior leaders. Track record of success in complex environments with many stakeholders, in varied geographic markets, disciplines and levels.
