The successful applicant will have both journalism and editing experience, and a deep love of everything PC gaming has to offer. You will be full of ambition and drive to discover the next big hits we’ll be writing about for years to come - from tiny solo developer projects to AAA blockbusters and complex 4X strategy games - and be raring to make your mark on one of the most respected editorial teams in the business.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with the Editor-in-Chief to select the right games and content priorities for our reviews.

  • Manage the production and publishing schedule to make sure the team’s time is well spent and our reviews are as complete as possible, as early as possible.

  • Play major video game releases across lots of popular genres and deliver comprehensive, accurate, clear and concisely written reviews.

  • Edit reviews and news posts written by the team and our external freelance network for accuracy, clarity and structure, ensuring they meet our editorial standards.

  • Manage our freelance budget and work with external writers when necessary.

  • Contribute to wider editorial output as required, such as previews, features and developer interviews.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Superb writing style, with an emphasis on clarity and economy, but also an entertaining and appealing tone.

  • Great attention to detail and the ability to edit other writers’ copy to the highest standards of accuracy while under time pressure.

  • Extensive knowledge of PC games across a wide range of genres.

  • Strong work ethic with a high degree of determination and drive, strong organisational skills and a methodical mindset.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • An understanding of search engine optimisation (SEO).

  • Experience of managing other staff.

  • A journalism qualification or degree in a relevant subject.

  • Knowledge of the games industry itself, with a clear interest in the sector.

  • An interest in the technology, entertainment and lifestyle sectors in general.
